Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama, the religous leader of Tibet lives in exile at Dharamshala in Northern India, just 124 miles [200 kms] from Tibet. He is the leader of the Yellow hat school of Tantric strand of Buddhism. He fled Tibet in 1959 following reprisals after a revolt against Chinese rule in Tibet. Tenzin Gyatso the 14th incarnation of the Lama has stated he may be the last.
